Received in faith and in a state of grace, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical, but also for mental and spiritual sickness. In years past, it was most commonly administered to the dying for the remission of sins and the provision of spiritual strength and health. In modern times, however, its use has been expanded to all who are gravely ill or are about to undergo a serious operation. This sacrament of healing provides strengthening of the soul and often of the body as well. As with the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, it can be repeated as often as is necessary.
Anyone wishing to receive this sacrament should contact the Parish Office to speak with a priest at (251) 626-2343 or email [email protected]
