The Holy Eucharist is one of the sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church. The Eucharist was instituted as a sacrament by Jesus at the Last Supper. The Eucharist effects union with Christ; it is nourishment for the soul and gives increase in grace.
The Eucharistic celebration, the Mass, is celebrated every day at Christ the King Parish. Click to view our Mass Times.
The Church draws her life from the Eucharist. This truth does not simply express a daily experience of faith, but recapitulates the heart of the mystery of the Church.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
According to the general guidelines of the Archdiocese of Mobile, a student must attend at least two academic years of religious education before receiving the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. First Reconciliation and First Communion are traditionally celebrated in Grade 2. Preparation for these sacraments is offered as part of the curriculum at Christ the King Catholic School.
For children who attend public or other private schools, sacramental preparation is integrated into the Sunday morning Religious Education curriculum.
Parents seeking First Communion for their child(ren) who do not attend Christ the King Catholic School should contact our Director of Religious Education (DRE), Sam Di Benedetto, for details of the process. Children must be enrolled in the Sunday morning Religious Education Program at Christ the King.
Older children and adolescents wishing to receive the sacrament of First Communion should contact Sam Di Benedetto for further information about this process at (251) 626-2343 or [email protected]
