The Parish Library opened its door in the larger of two Confessionals in the Church in 2000. A group of interested persons set the parameters for the kinds of of works to be contained therein and set them in categories, such as Family Life, Children, Scripture, and the Bible. Thereafter followed Reference, Vatican Documents, and a selection of DVD's. The inventory started with zero works and is approaching 1800 items.
With the opening of the Immaculata Center, the Library moved from its "primitive" conditions, shelves, table and two chairs (one for the priest when he was in residence) to its present delightful, spacious quarters with brand new overstuffed furniture and an atmosphere becoming to a Library.
The Parish Library is a "self service" honor system library. The Library is staffed by volunteers who collect, catalog, and return the works to their proper locations. Our sixteen staff members are assigned to work for two week periods at their convenience. Their two week assignments rotate every four to five weeks. Parishioners are invited to volunteer for "library service."
