Parish Library FAQs

WHERE IS THE PARISH LIBRARY?
The Parish Library is located at 1702 Main Street. It is on the corner of Main Street and Trione Avenue in the small red brick building next to Centennial Park. (Formerly Oates Tax Service)

WHEN IS IT OPEN?
The Parish Library doors remain locked for safety. You may obtain access Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm and Sunday from 8:00am-1:00pm.

HOW DO I OBTAIN ACCESS?
Email [email protected], call Laura Guarisco at 251-591-8282, or go pick up a keycard from the Parish Office at 711 College Ave.

The Parish Library will be open and staffed by a volunteer on Sundays from 8:00am-1:00pm to allow access and assist with checkout procedures.

HOW IS THE LIBRARY SET UP?
The Parish Library has four collections:

The Main Collection uses the Dewey Decimal system. Section 200 is Religion and most of our books are cataloged here. There is a chart on the ends of the shelves that lists the categories within the 200 section.

The Audio Visual Collection contains CD and DVDs. Music, guided prayers, courses and bible studies, documentaries and movies can be found here.

The Children's Collection contains books for children ages 10 and under. Books for middle schoolers on up are within the main collection.

The Reference Collection contains dictionaries, encyclopedias, Vatican documents, and quite a few unique, valuable and old books dating back to the 1880’s!

HOW CAN I SEARCH THE CATALOG?
In the Parish Library you can use the iPad to search for titles, authors, or keywords.

On your computer or smartphone, visit https://www.libib.com/u/ctkparishlibrary.

HOW DO I CHECK OUT A BOOK?
Send an email to [email protected] with your name, email, and phone number. A patron account will be created for you and the login information will be emailed to you. 

To check out a book:

• Login on the iPad, home computer or smartphone.
• Type in the book title you want to check out.
• Tap on the title and then click “Checkout” at the top of the page
• To add more books, hit X and the top right by “your items”, and follow instructions above again to find more titles.
• To remove a book, hit the X by the book title. 
• When you are ready, hit “complete” at the bottom of “your items”. 

HOW DO I RETURN A BOOK?
Place books in the return basket, or in the outside book return on the front porch.

Parish Library volunteers will check them in and reshelve them.
