The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance or Confession) is a way for us to reconcile ourselves to God. Sin deprives us of God's grace and leads us into a sinful way of life. In the celebration of the sacrament, we find God's unconditional forgiveness. In being forgiven, we are restored in grace and our conversion enables us to one again resist sin. As a result we are called to forgive others.
FIRST RECONCILIATION
According to the general guidelines of the Archdiocese of Mobile, a student must attend at least two academic years of religious education before receiving the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. First Reconciliation and First Communion are traditionally celebrated in Grade 2. Preparation for these sacraments is integrated into the curriculums of both Christ the King Catholic School as well as our Sunday morning Religious Education program.
Parents seeking First Reconciliation for their child(ren) who do not attend Christ the King Catholic School should contact our Director of Religious Education (DRE), Sam Di Benedetto, for details of the process. Children must be enrolled in the Sunday morning Religious Education classes at Christ the King.
Older children and adolescents wishing to receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation should contact Sam Di Benedetto at (251) 626-2343 or email [email protected] for further information about this process.
